Division 16 defines the scope of electrical work for any project, and our goal is to assure that our pricing on bid day includes all equipment, material, labor, tools and incidentals required to perform that scope. All electrical installations rated 600 volts or less, we perform with our own forces. Medium and high voltage work and testing are included in our scope, but we subcontract that work to specialty firms that have the required certifications and experience to install and warranty their work.
We own a full complement of equipment and vehicles that allow us to install electrical site work to include concrete encased ductbanks, pre-cast manholes and handholes, trenching and backfill for site lighting and associated circuitry, concrete pole bases including all reinforcement, and installation of site security and CCTV systems. We perform our own rigging of transformers, electrical distribution equipment, emergency generators, to include offloading and movement to the final location for installation. We have certified equipment operators and commercially licensed drivers, providing a wide range of flexibility to meet demanding work schedules and special outage needs.
We can perform all aspects of both prime and emergency power distribution, whether it be for a complex of buildings or a single structure. Our experienced work force is provided with all of the tools and equipment necessary to perform rough-in of feeder conduit and cable, cable tray systems, in-floor wiring distribution systems, raised access floor systems, surface raceway systems, feeder and plug-in busduct distribution, and standard branch circuit and lighting installations. We take full responsibility for the establishment of new incoming electrical service, to include coordination of all required permitting and inspections with local authorities, coordination and scheduling with the utility company, shop drawings and approval of all associated switchgear, switchboards, and distribution equipment. We have full time staff to perform coordination layout and CAD drawings of electrical equipment spaces and shared areas of the structure where we must install our work in concert with other systems and trades. We can accommodate any type of special service coordination that would include full emergency power back-up whether by an uninterrupted power supply or a paralleled and synchronized generator system, or both. We also have experience with special incoming RFI and EMI filtering systems. All cable, terminations, testing, inspections, and final start-up are included.
We take responsibility for coordinating all power requirements for equipment and motors provided by others. Motor control centers and variable frequency drives are frequently part of Division 16 and must be closely coordinated in order to assure compatibility with the equipment that they are connected to and control. Air handling equipment, pumps, chillers, cooling towers, kitchen equipment, and many others power consuming items must be properly coordinated and final connected in order to assure safe and proper operation.
Lighting fixtures, lighting control systems, and dimming are all part of our expertise. Particular skill is needed to make sure all architectural finishes and features have anticipated the need for lighting fixture rough-in and installation. From establishing an accurate count to providing the proper lamps, many different skills and processes are required to properly install the complex lighting systems typically utilized in today’s energy conscious building environment.
Finally, we pride ourselves on our ability and willingness to take responsibility for the many special systems that are increasingly common in both new and renovation projects. Programmable fire alarm systems, voice evacuation systems, sound and intercom, media retrieval and closed circuit television, card access and security systems, and various types of telecommunications and data systems, require special drawings, approvals, permits, inspections, wiring, termination, and testing. From rough-in to final acceptance, we either do it with our own forces or supervise specialty firms that work under our supervision and control.
