Ennis Electric’s commitment to safe work practices is part of our culture and is passed down from John Ennis Sr. to all employees. The prevention of employee injuries is paramount to the continued success and growth of our company. We make safety each employee’s primary responsibility. Our goal is to ensure no employee or their family suffers because of an incident sustained while working with Ennis Electric.
Ennis Electric has implemented a comprehensive safety program that provides a proactive approach for total accident prevention. Day to day responsibility for our corporate program resides with our full-time safety director, Richard Ennis. He is empowered to train our workers, perform job-site safety audits, identify and implement safe standards and practices, and investigate incidents. Our low EMR of .75 is a testament to our success in providing a safe environment.
Safety training starts on day one for every new employee. New hires watch our safety awareness training video, and receive orientation materials. Safety education continues with daily, weekly, and yearly training and reinforcement. We value the importance of training and continually seek to maintain, improve and enhance our safety program.
Our comprehensive safety program includes:
- New-hire orientations
- First aid and CPR training
- OSHA 10 and 30-hour training
- Hazardous materials communications
- 70E Awareness
- Weekly safety meetings
- Pre-hire drug use screening policy
- Site-specific safety training
- Activity-specific safety training
- Safe jobsite incentives
- 3rd party inspections
- Policies that are safer than required by law
