Details

Ennis Electric served as the base building electrical contractor for the main building and served as the sole electrical contractor on the parking garage and visitors center. Challenges included the construction of this complex project under a compressed schedule and coordinating with a myriad of contractors including other electrical subcontractors. This project included a 5000 amp incoming service from the utility distributed through a Cutler-Hammer switchboard with busway risers. Five separate automatic transfer switches were incorporated into the emergency power distribution system for staggered load transfers and load shedding capabilities from a 1.25 megawatt emergency power generator. Ennis provided all the electric for the mechanical equipment, five elevators, lighting and power for the core of the building, and site lighting for the parking lots and running trails. In addition we provided the base building fire alarm system, lighting control system, communications cable trays, lightning protection system, and a complete conduit system and related power for the security system. Over 100 subcontractors were working together at some points of the schedule which created an enormous coordination and manpower challenge. We participated in fully drafted MEP coordination drawings for the coordinated installation of our equipment, feeders, and cable tray. All promised power delivery and commissioning dates were met by Ennis Electric. Many owner generated changes added to the challenges, however the project completed on schedule.
